St. Andrew/St. Ann Churches

September 25, 2019


The regular meeting of the Financial Advisory Council of St. Andrew Church was called to order by Chairman, Steve Schumacher, at 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in the meeting room at St. Andrew Parish House.


Members of the Council are: St. Andrew�Rockne Bleyer, Chris Crabtree, Kelly Crabtree-Trustee, Tammy Gartner-Financial Manager, Fr. Gary Gummersheimer, Cindy Holt, Mary Annette Lane-Trustee, Ms. Jenny Martin-Principal�St. Andrew School, Charles McCann, Steve Schumacher, Bill Schwartz and Judy Wisniewski St. Ann, Raddle�Dan Korando, Trustee, Dennis Korando, Trustee, Linda Kranawetter

Excused Absent: Cindy Holt, Dan Korando


The meeting was opened with prayer by Fr, Gary.


Minutes:

Question - St. Ann�s Subsidy  The question concerning whether two students were St. Ann or St. Andrew parishioners has been answered so Ms. Martin will inform Tammy on the amount the check should be written. No further questions,


Charles McCann made a motion, seconded by Bill Schwartz to accept the minutes. A voice vote was recorded as followed: Aye � All, Nay � None.


Finance Reports:

St. Andrew Catholic Church Budget vs. Actual: FY-2019-2020-FY20 P&L (July-September): Question concerning the Pasta Dinner Fundraiser for the youth going to the Youth Conference. Kelly reported approximately $2700 was raised. Fr. Gary stated the church would give $200 per youth for the cost. The money will come out of the Caring Fund Checking Account.

St. Andrew Catholic Church Unpaid Bills  Bill Schwartz made a motion, seconded by Dennis Korando to pay St. Andrew Catholic Church bills. A voice vote was recorded as followed: Aye � All, Nay � None.

St. Ann Catholic Church Report  Mileage for Fr. Gary trips to St. Ann are now being paid by St. Ann, as indicated on the unpaid bill list.

St. Ann Catholic Church Unpaid Bills  Multi-Peril Insurance�yearly payment for Liability Insurance. Linda Kranawetter made a motion, seconded by Bill Schwartz/Dennis Korando to pay St. Ann Catholic Church bills. A voice vote was recorded as followed: Aye � All, Nay � None.

St. Andrew Catholic School Budget vs. Actual: FY-2019-2020, FY20 P&L (July 2019-June 2020): Empowered Illinois first payment should be coming in next week. Ms. Martin and the council thanks Bill Schwartz for helping with the paperwork concerning Empowered Illinois.

St. Andrew Catholic School Unpaid Bills  Bill Schwartz made a motion, seconded by Kelly Crabtree to pay St Andrew Catholic School bills.

Question - Ameren Bills�using less but paying more. The answer is that fees have increased and new ones have been added. No further questions, a voice vote was recorded as followed: Aye � All, Nay � None.


Maintenance:

Fiber Optics  The work has started. Money was been set aside for this expense.

St. Ann Church  Coming events: Sandra Comfort-last of September and Duck Bouya-first Saturday in October. Three windows-one double, one single have been purchased. Mike Hickey has been a blessing to St. Ann�s as well as the school in stepping in to run the kitchen until two women have completed their state requirements.

St. Andrew School  The convection oven has been bought and installed. Donations from St. Ann, a school parent and 988 Band took care of the majority of the expense.


Committee Reports:

Trustee for St. Ann  Dan Korando has resigned from the Trustee position due to health reasons. Fr. Gary requested Dennis and Linda to submit a list of people to him from St. Ann for the trustee position.

St. Andrew School Board  Fr. Gary reported that last Wednesday, he dismissed the current school board due to lack of commitment. Fr. Gary, Trustees and Bill Schwartz have formed a list of possible parishioners to serve on the new school board. They are in the process of contacting these people and a meeting will be held on October 3, 2019 for the new board. Fr. Gary has asked for a two-year commitment (some terms will be longer so not to replace the entire board at one time). Their main objectives are enrollment, budget (work with the principal and done on time) and income/fundraising. This does not mean the board has to do everything but it is to set up committees of parents to help with these objectives.

St. Andrew Festival  Approximate gross-$50,000, net-$30,000. Budget-$20,000 which $10,000 has already been transferred this year.


New Business:

St. Andrew School  Ms. Martin reported that Fr. Gary has been at the school talking with the students and greeting them in the hallway. The children do get excited seeing Fr. Gary. He encourages the students to talk to him. Also, once a month, Fr. Gary will do reconciliation. St. Andrew 5th grade teacher wrote a grant through the insurance and the school has received a new water fountain that also refills water bottles. The fountain will be installed downstairs due to closeness to the gym and the fountain downstairs does not work. After a year, he can request an additional water fountain which will be installed upstairs.


Old Business:

Letter to St. Andrew School parents of unpaid expenses The amount of unpaid expenses (tuition, after school care and lunch fund) is $26,500. The letter has been written (8 names) with the main point that these unpaid amounts puts a burden on the school and other parents. Last year, $11,000 had to be transferred to meet payroll. Kelly has asked Mrs. Compardo for an audit every 30 days on unpaid tuition, after school care and lunch bills. At that time a letter will be sent requesting payment or talk with Fr. Gary and/or Trustees concerning the situation. Tuition due on September 30th. Some families that are on the list of money owed have returned to school this year, three have not returned and two or three have received Empowered Illinois scholarships for this year. This year�s budget was written for a higher enrollment than what there is at this time. Charles McCann stated that tuition should all be paid by spring break. Heated Sidewalks  Items needed to finish the sidewalks will be bought during the 11% Rebate Sale at Menard�s. The pump and heat exchanger will be place in the janitor closet in the steeple. The janitor closet will be moved to the Annex.


Other Business:

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned with prayer at 5:37pm.
