Minutes of the Pastoral Council Meeting on August 17, 2017
for St. Andrew/St. Ann Parish
Present: Rebecca Korando, Bill Schwartz, Deacon Don Sparling, Linda Kranawetter, Mark Williams, Jennifer Craig, Kevin Junk, Cindy Canning, Audrey Arnold, Angelo Fiorino, and Linda Bunselmeyer
Absent: Leslie Crabtree, Theresa Bastien, Frank Riley, Linda Porter-Smith, Jessica Fritsche, and Fr. Gary
Meeting opened at 6:01.
Opening prayer was led by Deacon Don.
Mark Williams made a motion to approve the minutes from the July meeting, and Cindy Canning seconded. Minutes were approved.
Womens book club will begin again on Sept 19th, with the book undetermined.
PSR at Raddle begins on Sept 10th, with 11 kids enrolled.
Bible study continues until early December.
RCIA sent out an announcement in the bulletin, and have one candidate so far.
Cindy Canning and Linda Kranawetter met with Rich Kearnes through teleconference last Friday to discuss plans for a parish mission. There is a follow-up meeting scheduled for next Tuesday. Items discussed included areas of the parish to strengthen: Youth Ministry, improvement in internal/external communication of the parishes, determining use of buildings, moving the school from an academic focus to a mission/faith focus, and how to engage school parents in parish life and leadership. Rich would like to do a mini mission for our parishes. Possible dates are Oct. 8, Oct. 15, Oct. 22, 2017. The cost of the mission is undetermined, and possible dates for a weeknight mission will be pursued by Cindy. This fall, Rich wants the parish to work on finding a full time Youth Minister, and investigate where they would be housed, space that could be allocated, financing for a salary, and having a committee to work on this project. Possible committee members could include someone from the Finance council, school board, parish council and other interested members. Jennifer and Jeff Craig, Kevin Junk, Linda Bunselmeyer, and Deacon Don volunteered for the committee, and a meeting will be scheduled soon.
Bill reported that a Celebrations Committee has been formed. Members include Barb and Doug Helfrich, Debbie and John Michelesko, Chris and Kelly Crabtree, Cindy Canning, and the Klaines. A meeting has been held to begin discussing St. Andrew�s 150th celebration, and also Fr. Gary�s anniversary.Communication:
Linda Kranawetter reported that St. Elizabeth church and rectory are for sale. Several items such as the Stations of the Cross and crucifix have been moved to St. Ann�s. Other items may be appraised and sold.
Bill reported on the Welcoming Committee. A welcoming packet is being developed. Contacts to four families have been attempted.
Linda Kranawetter reported that on Thursday, Sept 21 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, Sept. 24th at 1:00, The Shack will be shown at The Liberty theater.
Linda Kranawetter reported that � of the money has been donated for a parish membership for FORMED.org, and she would like to donate the other � of the fee for 6 months, and then track it�s usage and decide if it could be continued. A subscription will be purchased and the passcode will be provided to all parishioners and school families. More information and details to follow.
Deacon Don made a motion that a Liturgy committee be formed as part of the Parish Council, and Linda Kranawetter seconded, and the motion was approved.
Saturday, Oct. 14, Catholic Charities of So. IL will be hosting a Breakfast at 8:30 am with a silent auction and guest speakers. Everyone is invited. Donations for baskets for the silent auction are welcome and can be given to Deacon Don one week prior to the event.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, from 9:00-2:00, Catholic Relief Services will hold a training event in Okawville.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 21, 2017 at 6 pm.
Linda Kranawetter moved to adjourn the meeting, and Kevin Junk seconded the motion. The meeting closed at 6:54.
