Minutes of the Pastoral Council Meeting on February 20, 2020

for St. Andrew/St. Ann Parishes


Present:  Fr. Gary, Deacon Don, Cindy Canning, Linda Kranawetter, Mark Williams, Garrett Cook, Rob Kippenbrock, and Linda Bunselmeyer.

Absent: Kevin Junk, Audrey Arnold, Linda Porter Smith, Jordan Landewee

Excused: Theresa Madel, Rebecca Korando, Nicole Smelter, Jennifer Craig, Bill Schwartz, Audrey Arnold

Meeting opened at 6:06 pm.

Opening prayer was led by Cindy Canning.

Minutes from January 2020 meeting were reviewed.  Linda Kranawetter made a motion to approve the minutes, and Mark Williams seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Committee Reports

Spiritual Evolvement:

Deacon Don reports that the RCIA program is continuing. Rite of Election is coming up in two weeks; candidates will meet with the Bishop. Daniella Brooks is a new candidate, bringing the total to six.

Cindy reported that The 99 class is continuing on Monday nights, with a video series and good discussions. The class will continue the series through the next few weeks, and plan a mini mission for the fall.

Hospitality/Community Life:

Linda Kranawetter reports that the movie at the Liberty will be scheduled either April 4th, 5th or 6th.


No report.

Physical Facilities:

Rob suggested that music be played prior to masses on Saturday night in the back lobby during confessions, for more privacy.

Old Business:

Interactive Stations are being scheduled. Cindy is planning the event.

March 28th is the tentative date for St. Andrew School stations in church, in the evening.

Cindy will put an announcement in the bulletin about upcoming parish elections.  Fr. Gary and council members are encouraged to reach out to other parishioners, and invite them to be included in the upcoming election.


New Business:

Frank Riley has asked to be taken off the council, because of other commitments.

Cindy suggested that we have an announcement before church, that would encourage parishioners to �Please stand and greet those around you.� This can be added after the prayers of the sick.

Hospitality Ministers are encouraged to be at all entrances of the church. There was a request for families to volunteer to bring up the gifts at offertory, and can let the hospitality ministers know.

Fr. Gary reported that he is working with a Safety Committee, and they may be able to coordinate with hospitality ministers.

Cindy reported that Mike Koberstein sends a letter to new parishioners to welcome them.

Deacon Don is working on pamphlets to be distributed at the Family Outreach Center.

Fr. Gary reported that pamphlets are being donated to be distributed during Lent. Rob volunteered to place an announcement each week in the bulletin about one part of the Mass.

New cards for pews are being explored by Bill.

Cindy discussed exploring a Regional Youth Minister.


Mark Williams made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Linda Kranawetter seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.

The meeting ended at 7:07 p.m.

The next parish council meeting is Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
