Committee Reports
Spiritual Evolvement:
Linda Kranawetter reported that a small group meeting after Mass at St. Anns on Sundays is going well
and Fr. Jim attended the last meeting.
Jennifer Craig report that Vacation Bible School starts July 21, 2019.
Bill Schwartz reported that the change to lectors reading the Prayers of the Faithful in the absence of Dr.
Don has gone relatively well.
Fr. Gary expressed his views concerning RCIA training. He approved of the manner in which St. Ann
conducted RCIA classes last year. He would like to combine St. Ann and St. Andrew classes this year
incorporating many of the changes that were initiated at St. Ann last year. He is considering a committee
regarding RCIA composed of Deacon Don, Rebecca Korando, Gina Baird and Bill Schwartz plus any other
volunteers. The planning for RCIA must be done quickly as RCIA classes normally begin in September.
Stations of the Cross were discussed. A review of the last two years occurred and ideas were presented
of observations of the Stations at other churches.
Fr. Gary also suggested that planning begin for Advent.
Hospitality/Community Life:
Linda Porter Smith reported that the planning for the Welcoming Event on Aug 10th continues. She has
received a list of new parishioners and will be sending invitations. They will be invited to attend mass at
4:30 p.m. followed by a meet-and-greet in the Annex. Those will be provided free tickets to the KC hall
for dinner in conjunction with the parish festival. All parish council members are encouraged to attend
this event and welcome new members to the parish.
Communication:
Bill Schwartz handed out a report from Google regarding web page contacts for the month of June.
Physical Facilities:
Bill Schwartz reported that replacement of the sidewalk in front of church has begun. The new sidewalk
will be heated by piping containing heated liquid. The original plan was to use electric mats but the cost
was prohibitive.
Bill Schwartz also reported on the red colored bleed on the wall in the balcony. This is a result of
damage to the roof caused by removal of the scaffolding. This caused a roof leak which has been
repaired. The bill for repair has been sent to the company causing the damage. The bleed is the result
of red paint coming through because of moisture in the wall. Once the wall has dried, it will be painted.
St. Ann:
Linda Kranawetter reported that the Feast of St. Ann will be celebrated on July 28 with a breakfast
following mass. A ministry fair for St. Ann ill be held at the same time.
St. Ann is looking for new hymnals and another discussion occured concerning the copyright privileges of
hymns.
Fr. Gary mentioned the changes to the stairs to the altar and how much he appreciates the modification
which gives additional room during funeral services.
Old Business
Discussion regarding monitors for St. Andrew Church was tabled.
Lanyards for ministers were discussed. Bill Schwartz provided a variety of pendants for Extraordinary
Minister of the Eucharistic. A decision was made to purchase pendants for St. Ann and St. Andrew.
New Business
Bill Schwartz presented a comparison of costs from companies providing services for on-line giving. He
made the recommendation to engage ParishSoft because of the reasonable charges for its services and
the fact that the parish office is already using one of its products. The recommendation was
unanimously approved.
Bill Schwartz made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Linda Kranawetter seconded the motion. All
were in favor.
Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.
The meeting ended at 7:07 p.m.
The next parish council meeting is scheduled for August 15th, at 6 p.m. following 5:00 Mass for the Feast
of the Assumption.
