Minutes of the Pastoral Council Meeting on March 22, 2018
for St. Andrew/St. Ann Parish
Present: Fr. Gary, Rebecca Korando, Bill Schwartz, Kevin Junk, Mark Williams, Linda Porter-Smith, Frank Riley, and Linda Bunselmeyer
Absent: Theresa Bastien, Ryan Povolish, Jenny Martin, Linda Kranawetter, Audrey Arnold, Jessica Fritsche, Cindy Canning, Jennifer Craig, Angelo Fiorino, and Deacon Don
Meeting opened at 6:11.
Opening prayer was led by Bill Schwartz.
Minutes from the February meeting were reviewed. Minutes were approved.
Parish Renewal: Bill reported that at the Into My Vineyard session last Saturday, a 3 year process of RCIA was discussed. Fr. Gary and the council discussed the program at St. Andrew, and our current program will continue as is. There will be one candidate received into the church at Easter Vigil.
The Pastoral Plan for Parish Renewal will not continue with Rich Karnes.
Frank Riley reported that The Stations of the Cross have been hosted by various group during this Lenten Season. The Stations of the Cross will not be offered at our parishes next year.
Possible field trips to the Cathedral in Belleville and other sites may be planned for our parishes. There are other opportunities for spiritual evolvement coming up. Matthew Kelly will be speaking in St. Louis on April 28th. Tickets are available on the Dynamic Catholic website. Dr. Allen Hunt will be speaking at St. Vincent de Paul in Cape Girardeau in September, 2018.
PSR time schedule may be adjusted next year based on the 11:00 mass schedule.
Confirmation will be held at St. Bruno�s in Pinckneyville at 5:30 on April 7th, with a reception to follow. There are 6 students being confirmed this year from St. Andrew.
Ministries Handbook: Linda Porter-Smith reported she is completing the handbook and is just waiting on confirmation from a few people. She recommended that the Ministries Handbook is reviewed annually to update it.
Anniversary Update: Bill reported that the 150th celebration of St. Andrew will be on May 29, 2018. Kelly Crabtree is planning the event.
St. Andrew Parish Council elections will be on April 14/15th. Candidates names are being submitted.
Parish Directory: Pictures will be taken after masses on April 29th at St. Ann and St. Andrew.
Email database: 126 people from St. Andrew, and 29 from St. Ann have completed forms for the database email. Rebecca will be available before mass on Saturday, and Linda Porter-Smith before mass this Sunday at St. Andrew to have people sign up.
Frank Riley reported he is investigating properties close to the church that might be for sale.
Kairos: Frank Riley reported that the next Kairos Prison Ministry weekend at Menard is April 19th.
Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Linda Porter-Smith seconded the motion.
Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.
The meeting ended at 7:18 pm.
The next parish council meeting is scheduled for April 19, 2018, at 6pm.
