Committee Reports

Hospitality/Community Life:

Fellowship Weekend and Childrens Mass at 11:00 a.m. on March 17, 2019 was well attended. There will not be a Fellowship Weekend in April, since the 3rd weekend is Easter weekend.

Outreach Ministry for the Sick and Homebound: Rebecca reported that Ken Peterin is glad to visit anyone. Linda Porter-Smith will advertise in the bulletin; anyone requesting prayers or visits can contact the Parish house.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist: Rebecca reported that Ken Peterin is looking for a volunteer to take communion to the Manor on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Linda Kranawetter and Audrey Arnold volunteered. Rebecca will also have an ad placed in the bulletin and have it added to Fr. Garys announcements requesting more volunteers. There will be trainings and renewals for Extraordinary Ministers and Lectors scheduled in the future.

Bill reported that he has updated the website. St. Andrew School will also be changing their website or it will be combined with the parish website.

Physical Facilities:

Old Business

Ministry Recruitment Fair:

A Ministry Fair will be held on May 5th during the KC Fried Chicken Dinner from 11-1.

Linda Porter-Smith asked if there would be a table set up for the Fellowship Weekends, as it is not currently listed in the Ministry catalog. Cindy volunteered to make a poster about it, and will have a sign-up sheet to put on a table at the fair. Linda Porter-Smith volunteered to make a flyer about the Ministry Fair to be distributed at school. She reported that she emailed every contact person in the Ministry Catalog, requesting that they have a display and a sign-up sheet at the event. Information is due by April 22nd.  She requested that information in the catalog be reviewed by each contact person, and any updates/corrections be given to her.

A Commitment Sunday will be on May 12th. Linda Porter-Smith will have a list of all of the ministries to sign up for, and commitment sheets can be presented at the altar during communion, at all masses.

Contact persons will be encouraged to reach out to all the people that sign up for their ministry.

The Ministry Catalog will be emailed to parishioners, available on the website, and will also be printed.

Pastoral Council Elections for St. Andrew:

Bill prepared a ballot, and elections will be held March 23/24th. Rebecca will coordinate the election at the Saturday mass, and Bill will coordinate on Sunday at 11:00 mass. Five members will be elected; candidates are Rob Kippenbrock, Rebecca Korando, Jordan Landawee, Tina Lustig, Frank Riley, William Schwartz, and Nichole Smelter. An election at St. Anns will be held at a later date.

Stations of the Cross:

Jennifer Craig reported that high school students will be leading the Stations March 22nd. Other groups have been assigned for the rest of the weeks of Lent.

Visiting Priests:

Bill reported that he and Rebecca are developing a protocol for visiting priests. Rebecca reported that when there are visiting priests, the lectors will read the Prayers of the Faithful when Deacon Don is not available. This may be implemented at every mass in the future, and will be included in Lector training.

New Business

Safety Committee:

Bill reported that parishioners who are sworn police officers are being contacted to be members of the Safety Committee. Once the committee is formed the first order of business will be to develop a safety plan for the church.

A sub-committee of the Safety Committee is the Parish Health Ministry.  Sandy Schwartz is the Parish Health Minister and has received a grant of a new defibrillator for installation in the church.

Sandy Schwartz has started a new small group, Walking with Jesus, which meets on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.

Rebecca made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Linda Porter Smith seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.

The meeting ended at 7:17 p.m.

The next parish council meeting is scheduled for April 25th, at 6pm.

Respectfully submitted by Linda Bunselmeyer
