Minutes of the Pastoral Council Meeting on November 15, 2018

for St. Andrew/St. Ann Parish

 

Present:  Fr. Gary, Cindy Canning, Bill Schwartz, Linda Kranawetter, Mark Williams, Garrett Cook, Linda Bunselmeyer, Theresa Madel, Audrey Arnold, Jennifer Craig, Angelo Fiorino, and Linda Porter-Smith


Absent: Theresa Bastien, Ryan Povolish, Kevin Junk, Rob Kippenbrock, and Jessica Fritsche


Excused:  Deacon Don and Rebecca Korando


Meeting opened at 6:00 pm.


Opening prayer was led by Cindy Canning.


Minutes from the October meeting were reviewed.  One correction included the excusal of Jennifer Craig from the October meeting. Bill made a motion that the minutes be approved, and Linda Kranawetter seconded the motion. All were in favor.


Cindy reported that Teresa Bastien and Ryan Povolish have indicated that they have been unable to attend Parish council meetings and they suggested they be replaced on the council.  


Committee Reports

Spiritual Evolvement:

Cindy reported on the Retreat by Sr. Barbara Jean Franklin at St. Andrew last month. She reported that 25-30 people attended the retreat.

RCIA: Bill reported that there are three participants at St. Andrew, and Fr. Gary reported that there are at least five at St. Ann�s. Both groups are going very well.

Fr. Gary reported that the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8th, is a Holy Day. Masses are Dec. 7th at 5:00 p.m. at St. Ann, and Dec. 8th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Andrew.

Advent plans include the following:  Liturgy of the Hours will be at St. Andrew on Sundays at 3:00, and on the 4th Sunday there will be a Contata at 3:00 pm.

Adoration: Linda Kranawetter reported that she and Theresa Madel talked to Sue Peterin about extending the hours of Adoration at the hospital chapel. They are held on the first Friday of the month, and will be held from 12:00pm to 6 pm. They might have a special intention for each month.


Hospitality/Community Life

Fellowship Weekends: Cindy reported that she talked to Jenny Martin about having school families host refreshments on the third Sunday each month, from January through May. Jenny suggested that the masses for those weekends could also be Children�s Masses, and students would be responsible for the ministries of each mass.

Linda Kranawetter and Audrey Arnold reported that they went to a Catholic Relief Services meeting this past weekend, and will bring an activity to the council at a future meeting.

Cindy reported that she updated the mass times on the masstimes.org website.


Communication:

Bill reported that he is keeping the website up to date.


Physical Facilities:

Fr. Gary reported that work on the roof steeple is continuing.  


Old Business:

Dynamic Catholic Event: Cindy reported that she has not heard from Dynamic Catholic about a date for the event. Fr. Bob has given permission to have the event at St. Francis.

St. Andrews Feast Day: Cindy reported that the feast day will be celebrated on Nov. 30th at 6:30 pm. Linda Porter-Smith is working on refreshments.

Block Captains: Deacon Don was not present at the meeting, and this will be further discussed at the next meeting.

Ministry Fair: Linda Porter-Smith reported that she has some updates to the Ministry Catalog. A ministry fair may be scheduled in February. A commitment Sunday may occur the following weekend. Linda Porter-Smith volunteered to be in charge of planning for these events.  


New Business:

Lenten plan and theme: Everyone was encouraged to bring an idea to the next meeting and we will decide on a theme for Lent.

St. Ann Christmas party: Dec. 7th after the 5:00 mass. Refreshments and gift exchange will be held in the Annex.

 

Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Audrey seconded the motion.  All were in favor.


Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.


The meeting ended at 7:05.


The next parish council meeting is scheduled for December 20th, 2018, at 6pm. Bring drinks/snacks to share. Spouses/guests are welcome.
