Minutes of the Pastoral Council Meeting on September 19, 2019

for St. Andrew/St. Ann Parishes

Present:  Fr. Gary, Rebecca Korando, Garrett Cook, Rob Kippenbrock, Mark Williams, Bill Schwartz, and Linda Bunselmeyer

Absent: Deacon Don, Theresa Madel, Audrey Arnold, Jordan Landawee, Linda Porter-Smith, Jordan Landawee, and Frank Riley

Excused:  Cindy Canning, Nichole Smelter, Linda Kranawetter, and Jennifer Craig

Meeting opened at 6:04 pm.

Opening prayer was led by Bill Schwartz.

Minutes from August, 2019 meeting were reviewed. Fr. Gary had one correction to the minutes; the weekend of the Duck Booya, there will be mass at 5:30 pm at St. Andrew on Oct. 5th. Rebecca made a motion to approve the minutes, and Rob seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Committee Reports

Spiritual Evolvement:

RCIA starts at St. Andrew next week; a family of 6 has enrolled.

Eucharistic Minister Training will be held Sept. 24th at St. Andrew Church at 7 p.m. A training will be held at St. Ann later in October.

Hospitality/Community Life:

Community Night Out at Riverside Park in Murphysboro will be held on October 1st, from 5-7 p.m. Cindy has ordered Prayer Process cards, and will have other give-aways. Rebecca will contact Nicole Compardo to coordinate with the school.

Old Business

Bill reported that he is continuing to work on online giving for the parish.

The 99 � An Evangelization Process: Rebecca reported that the parish may be putting on a mission as part of the program through Ascension Press.

New Business

Rob shared a letter from the bishop of Peoria Diocese, about the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. He suggested having an increased opportunity for Eucharistic Exposition. Fr. Gary agreed to have Adoration after the 11:00 masses at St. Andrew, for 30 minutes, starting in Advent, Dec.1st. Rob will write a letter to the parishioners, to be added as an insert in the bulletin.

Books for Christmas (Advent): �Little Books� for Advent/Christmas have been ordered to distribute to parishioners.

The Magnificat will be available this weekend at all masses for parishioners.

Save the Date for the Pro Life Dinner, on October 29th, at the KC Hall. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Altar Society. Doors open at 5 pm. Dinner starts at 6 pm. Fr. Ryan Barker will be the speaker. Tickets will be available at the door. Students are encouraged to attend, for free. More information to come. 

Rob made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Mark seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

Closing prayer was led by Fr. Gary.

The meeting ended at 7:00 p.m.

The next parish council meeting is re-scheduled for October 23, at 6pm.
